Yantar shipyard joined United Shipbuilding Corporation 19.02.2010
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has finished share purchase of Baltic shipyard Yantar. "This is critical acquisition since it allows making Yantar one of the key shipyards in surface shipbuilding. The yard will employ additional staff", said Roman Trotsenko, USC President at yesterday's meeting with Vladimir Putin.

"We hope this western shipyard to become one of the biggest in Russian shipbuilding industry; it is well-designed, has territorial expansion capabilities and its staff are mostly young people", Trotsenko said. According to him, "customs and tax regulations active in Kaliningrad region are favorable for shipbuilding". By estimate of USC leader, the shipyard would additionally employ about 1,000 workers.

In his turn, Putin asked the shipbuilder to control production process. "Shipbuilding companies produce about 60% costs of contracts. Those are advanced equipment and in demand at international market", said the president of corporation speaking of "high production standards of Yantar shipyard".
