SSN Nerpa to be delivered on time – head of USC 19.02.2010
Nuclear-powered submarine Nerpa is completing sea trials and will be delivered to the Navy as scheduled, reported Roman Trotsenko, the head of United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) at meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

"Project 518, nuclear-powered submarine Nerpa is presently finishing sea trials at Pacific Ocean. According to our expectations, the sub will be delivered to the Navy at the stated time, he said.

Russian defense ministry previously reported that in Feb the submarine would pass additional trials to eliminate defects found last year during state trials.

Nerpa is awaited in India. According to Indian media, Russian nuclear attack submarine will be leased to India and as early as in May 2010 will be commissioned into Indian Navy.
