Open Skies mission completed at the Baltic 15.03.2010
On March 12 international observers completed their work at Baltic Fleet; they performed aerial survey over Kaliningrad region within the framework of Open Skies Treaty. This year representatives of Germany, Great Britain and Latvia conducted survey flights over Russian territory by Romanian aircraft AH-30.

The main objective of open skies regime is development of openness and transparency; assistance in supervision over compliance with current and prospective arms control treaties; enhancement in crisis prevention and crisis control under Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) and other relevant international organizations. In prospect, provisions will be made for extension of open skies regime on new areas like environmental protection.
