Russian large ASW ship Admiral Chabanenko has finished formal visit to Spanish port Ceuta on Tuesday, reported RIA Novosti referring to Navy Press Service's official.
According to the source, the ship stayed at the port in Apr 11-13 replenishing supplies.
"Today the ship has accomplished tasks on securing shipping near Horn of Africa and the Gulf of Aden", said the interviewee.
He added that the senior officer on board the ship was Capt 1 rank Evgeny Irza, Northern Fleet (NF) surface ship division commander.
Presently, Russia is represented in anti-piracy operation held in this part of Indian Ocean by large ASW ship Marshal Shaposhnikov.
Pacific Fleet (PF) warships shifted Northern Fleet (NF) task unit deployed in the region.
Large ASW ship Marshal Shaposhnikov has two deck-based helicopters. Besides, marine units are on board the ship and two auxiliary vessels.
First PF task unit consisting of large ASW ship Admiral Vinogradov and three auxiliary vessels patrolled coastwise Horn of Africa in Jan-March 2009. The second task unit headed by large ASW ship Admiral Panteleev – in Apr-June 2009. The third PF task unit led by large ASW ship Admiral Tributs was on combat watch in July-Oct 2009.
