Large-scale interfleet naval exercise will be conducted in June 2010 in the Sea of Japan, said Capt 1 rank Roman Martov, Pacific Fleet (PF) official representative in phone talk to RIA Novosti.

"The exercise will be held with participation of PF main forces, and flagships of Northern Fleet (NF) and Black Sea Fleet (BSF) heavy cruisers Petr Veliky and Moskva which have carried out interfleet cruise", said Martov.

According to him, the exercise will contain dozens of combat drills.

He added that Wednesday morning BSF flagship Moskva had entered Strelok Bay and would moor at Fokino base (150 km away Vladivostok) on Thursday. NF flagship Petr Veliky arrived to Far East on May 20 and is already moored there.

Strelok Bay was not selected randomly, explained Martov. Base infrastructure optimally suits warships with large displacement. That is why PF flagship missile cruiser Varyag (similar to Moskva, Project 1164) is based there.

Main base of PF Primorskaya flotilla is located near Fokino.
