Serdiukov: Black Sea Fleet to be reinforced with new-built ships 25.06.2010

Russian defense minister Anatoly Serdiukov confirmed Thursday that Black Sea Fleet (BSF) would be reinforced with new ships.

"Black Sea Fleet will receive new ships", said the minister in Sevastopol summarizing session of the defense and security subcommittee of Russian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission.

As was previously reported by RIA Novosti referring to Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Vysotsky, BSF will be reinforced with 15 new combatant ships and submarines till 2020.

Russian and Ukrainian defense ministers Anatoly Serdiukov and Mikhail Yezhel signed Thursday a protocol as for results of the subcommittee session held in Sevastopol. According to Russian defense minister, there were 10 items on agenda and each of them was completely settled. Among them were Russia's use of pilot training center NITKA (Crimea), aircraft An-70, and interaction between the two defense ministries.
