Russian warships to proceed with countering Somali piracy in July 29.06.2010

Russian Navy's task unit led by large ASW ship Admiral Levchenko will arrive to the Gulf of Aden on July 3 to attend the UN international anti-piracy mission, reported Ministry of Defense Press Service on Monday.

Large ASW ship Marshal Shaposhnikov which had been taking part in anti-piracy mission for over two months completed her functions and returned to Pacific Fleet main base Vladivostok.

"On July 3 the task unit headed by large ASW ship Admiral Levchenko will arrive to the Gulf of Aden. The unit also includes supply vessels Olekma and SB-36. The task unit is commanded by Capt 1 rank Vladimir Kondratov, executive officer of Northern Fleet surface ships division; commanding officer of Admiral Levchenko is Capt 1 rank Stanislav Varik", said the ministry's press release.
