According to a poll conducted by editorial staff of the Central Navy Portal, Russian naval officers serve not for money. Less then one third of respondents agreed with President Medvedev that "respectable salary of officers... directly affects combat readiness of our armed forces". The rest of pollees either don't trust the president or consider material wealth as minor motivator for a Russian officer.

Most of respondents (almost 52%) don't believe the government could settle financial problems in such a way that officers stop think of money and completely dedicate themselves to service. Research carried out 2 years ago by the portal displayed that adequate salary of an officer's work was evaluated as 60,000 RUR.

About 19% pollees said a Russian officer serves to the idea but not to material wealth.

Nonetheless, significant part of respondents (almost 29%) are agree with Dmitry Medvedev and directly associate quality of officers' work with their salary. According to this part of pollees, increase in salary would let officers to direct more energies to service.

432 visitors of the portal took part in the poll.
