Indian diesel electric submarine Sindhurakshak arrived to Severodvinsk for repair and modernization, said informed source to the Central Navy Portal.
The floating dock Rolldock Sun delivered INS Sindhurakshak to Severodvinsk on Aug 3. On Aug 6 dock operations were finished and the Indian sub was moored at the quay of JSC Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center. Provisionally, on Aug 10 the sub will be put on a solid base of the shipyard's dock section; on Aug 17 the sub will be transferred to shipbuilding workshop No. 10 where all works on overhaul and upgrade will be performed. According to the contract, schedule time of works is a little more than 2 years. Upgrading implies rearmament with missile system Club-S, and installation of Indian systems – sonar USHUS and comm system CCS-MK.
INS Sindhurakshak is the fifth Indian diesel electric submarine to be repaired and upgraded by Zvezdochka shipyard. Indian crew arrived to Severodvinsk as early as July 27.
