The thirteenth underwater test launch of submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) Bulava held on Oct 7 in the White Sea by SSBN Dmitry Donskoy against Kura Range (Kamchatka) turned out to be successful, reports RIA Novosti referring to Russian defense ministry's press service.
Flight trajectory parameters were processed in normal mode; all warheads have successfully hit all targets at the range.
Submarine-launched ballistic missile Bulava is designed for Project 955 Borei nuclear submarines. It is a three-stage solid-propellant missile armed with hypersonic maneuverable warheads and capable to overcome existent and prospective missile defense systems. Only one out of 12 previously held test launches was found entirely successful, and four – partially successful.
It is planned to conduct two more test launches of Bulava till the year is over. One of them will be held by SSBN Dmitry Donskoy; in case of success, the second launch will be carried out by SSBN Yury Dolgoruky.
