United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) wants to take on balance cruiser Avrora which is going to be decommissioned. "We addressed to St. Petersburg Governor and asked to transfer cruiser Avrora to the balance of our corporation", reported Interfax citing the USC press service.

USC applied with the same request to Vladimir Vysotsky, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief, said the interviewee. According to him, the process of the cruiser's transfer to museum could drag on, so it may stop the ship's financing. "The direct specialization of our company is to preserve vessels though", emphasized the USC representative.

It was previously reported that cruiser Aurora would be decommissioned since Dec 1, 2010 and become branch of Navy Museum.
