Project 22350 frigate Admiral Gorshkov may become a major Russian exhibit at the International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS-2013) taking place in St. Petersburg in July 3-7, said director general and chief designer of the Almaz Design Bureau Alexander V. Shlyakhtenko at the presentation of the book "Corvettes: Conceptual Design" held on Nov 14 at Severnaya Verf shipyard on occasion of its centenary.

According to Shlyakhtenko, invitations to attend the IMDS-2013 exhibition have been already sent to naval command of nine countries.

As was said earlier by shipbuilders, the frigate was supposed to start trials in the fall of 2012. However, it has not been reported about beginning of the ship's trials so far. Russian Navy command told about plans to commission Admiral Gorshkov in 2012. The ship's delivery had been postponed once in 2011. Frigate Admiral Gorshkov was laid down at Severnaya Verf shipyard in 2006 and put afloat on Nov 29, 2010.

Project 22350 frigates are designed for naval warfare in littoral and ocean zones. Displacement is about 4,500 tons; length overall is over 130 meters; beam overall is somewhat 16 meters; operating range is about 4,000 nautical miles; navigability is unlimited. Each frigate accommodates a deck-based helicopter.

The ship is named after the outstanding founder of naval tactics who directed creation of Soviet oceangoing nuclear missile fleet, Admiral Sergei G. Gorshkov. That was he who made Soviet Navy with over 1,000 warships a strong instrument of foreign policy.
