A motor boat in Russia's second city of St. Petersburg crashed into the legendary cruiser Aurora, a symbol of the 1917 Russian Revolution, a local emergency service spokesperson said on Thursday.
"Around five in the morning, a motor boat ran into the
Aurora, injuring one person on board the launch," the spokesperson said adding that the person had been hospitalized.
He said the cause of the crash was being investigated.
The
Aurora is believed to have had a historical role in the October Revolution, when the ship's crew refused to set sail and fired one of its guns signaling the start of the storming of the Winter Palace, the headquarters of the country's provisional government at the time.
The
Aurora is currently a floating museum in St. Petersburg.
