The crew of fishing schooner 18 Hosei Maru wrecked Sunday off Sakhalin consisting of 8 men and dog was delivered to the port of Korsakov by vessel R-88-48SKh, informs RIA Novosti referring to fleet observation service of sea fishing port Nevel.

Russian fishing schooner 18 Hosei Maru with 6 tons of fuel sank 3.5 miles off cape Krilion, (southern Sakhalin) at La Perouse Strait connecting the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk. According to preliminary information, the reason of shipwreck was water entry into holds; the ship was 40-degree alist at the moment of submersion. There was no fuel spill detected.

Fishermen abandoned the schooner and escaped on life raft; they were taken aboard by same-type schooner Koe Maru sailing nearby. Two hours later the ship reached safe Morzh Harbor at Aniva Bay. Wind speed at the accident area was about 18 mps; wave height was up to 4 meters.

Sakhalin Transport Procuracy conducts an investigation of the shipwreck.

Schooner 18 Hosei Maru with displacement of 60 tons is registered at the port of Kholmsk.
