Patrol craft Point Jackson built in the US was commissioned in Turkmenian Navy, reports Svpressa.ru.
It is also reported that Turkmenia ordered two Project 12418 Molniya missile boats from Russia. Each of them will carry 16 antiship missiles Uran-E with firing range up to 130 km.
According to Svpressa.ru, new Ukrainian-built patrol boats Kalkan-M and Grif-T were commissioned in Turkmenian Coast Guard in 2002. Seven patrol boats and one destroyer were taken on a long-term lease from Iran in 2003. It was reported in 2009 that Turkmenian Navy acquired two Russian patrol boats Sobol.
In 2011 Turkmenia spent EUR 55 mln for two Turkish fast-speed patrol boats armed with 40-mm Italian guns for its fleet in the Caspian Sea.
President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov said in 2009 that Turkmenian Navy would purchase missile ships and construct a naval base. According to Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), in 2009 Turkmenia bought two patrol ships Tarantul for its navy.
