American cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG58) arrived in Georgia on Oct 17 to conduct joint US-Georgian naval exercise, reports Georgia News referring to national border police.
"Official meeting ceremony took place in the port of Batumi with participation of Capt Besik Shengelia, the Chief of Georgian Coast Guard Dept. Joint exercise of American cruiser and Georgian Coast Guard boats P-101 and P-102 will be held on Oct 18", reported the frontier agency.
Representatives of Georgian Coast Guard plan to meet with the US warship's crew and commanding officers. Also, sailors of the two countries will play friendly soccer game.
According to US Embassy to Georgia, the purpose of the exercise is strengthening of regional stability and maritime partnership with Black Sea countries, which is a part of strategy of European Command and US Navy's 6th Fleet.
Expectedly, USS Philippine Sea will leave Georgian territorial waters on Oct 20.
