All US Carriers Left Persian Gulf

24.02.2012 American carrier strike group led by USS Carl Vinson left the Persian Gulf and entered the Arabian Sea via the Strait of Hormuz, reported US Navy's press service on Feb 22.

Officially, the carrier put into the gulf in order to replenish supplies in the United Arab Emirates. Prior to entering the Persian Gulf, USS Carl Vinson and escort ships were stationed off southeastern Iran, reports Interfax.

In the last week, USS Carl Vinson moored at Dubai port for several days.

Presently, no American aircraft carriers are deployed in the Persian Gulf.

Two US Navy's carrier strike groups led by USS Carl Vinson and USS Abraham Lincoln earlier withdrawn from the gulf are currently deployed in the Arabian Sea providing aviation support to NATO troops in Afghanistan.

Earlier on, representatives of US Navy said another carrier would definitely come in the Persian Gulf.

According to Vzglyad newspaper, two Iranian warships left Syrian port Tartus on Tuesday heading for Iran via the Suez Canal.
