Lockheed Martin delivered first two advanced coast patrol aircrafts P-3C Orion to Pakistan, reports DefPro. In total, Pakistan is expected to receive seven such aircrafts. The contract on Orion upgrade was signed between Lockheed Martin and Pakistani Navy in 2006.

Advanced P-3C aircrafts are equipped with new surveillance system enabling to use them against subs and surface ships. According to the contract terms, Lockheed Martin will be involved in maintenance of Pakistani aircrafts.

Maximum speed of P-3C Orion is 750 kph and operational range is up to 9,000 km. It may be armed with torpedoes, mines and depth bombs located in internal bomb room. Besides, the aircraft has ten stations for external weapons.
