In the Gulf of Aden last Friday, April 9, Somali pirates attacked a large container ship Nada, flying the flag of Panama. The attack on the vessel with over 35 thousand ton capacity occurred 100 miles east of the island of Socotra. By increasing the speed and maneuvering the ship managed to avoid capture. The crew of Nada is composed of 24 persons, their nationality is unknown, none of the sailors was hurt, reports ITAR-TASS. More than a dozen different vessels to date remain in captivity by Somali pirates. On duty in the Gulf of Aden as part of an international force to combat piracy is a detachment of Russia's Pacific Fleet. Last year, they successfully guided some 200 vessels of different countries through the dangerous waters.
