K-391 Bratsk is a Project 971 Schuka-B nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN).

CONSTRUCTION, NAME

The submarine was laid down on February 23, 1988 at Leninsky Komsomol shipyard (Komsomolsk-on-Amur) under the name of K-391; launched on April 14, 1989; commissioned into Pacific Fleet on February 28, 1990; renamed into Kit on Apr 13, 1993; obtained the name of Bratsk on September 10, 1997 being taken under patronage of Bratsk town administration.

MILESTONES

In Sept 10 – Nov 25, 1991 the sub carried out a patrol, having shown the record time of continuous trailing foreign submarines – 380 hours.

On Dec 2, 1993 the sub successfully launched two Granit cruise missiles under different flight tasks, firstly in Soviet/Russian Navy history.

The sub is currently under repair.
