Daniil Moskovsky is a Project 671RTMK nuclear-powered attack submarine.

CONSTRUCTION, NAME

The sub was laid down on Dec 1, 1989 at Admiralteisky Zavod shipyard in Leningrad; launched on August 31, 1990; commissioned on March 14, 1991 under name of K-414. The sub was renamed into B-414 on June 3, 1992. She obtained the name of Daniil Moskovsky on September 18, 1996.

MILESTONES

In 1993 the sub carried out patrols in Arctic and North Atlantic.

In July 1994 she performed group cruise to Arctic and surfaced at geographic point of the North Pole. The submarine commander Capt 1 rank S.V. Kuzmin was awarded with the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.

On August 25, 1995 the sub carried out missile launches at the North Pole.

In September 1995 the sub delivered 10 tons of food supplies to Khasaravai settlement at the Kara Sea.

On September 6, 2006 two men died in consequence of poisoning with carbon monoxide when fire occurred in the sub's mechanic room at the Barents Sea.
