B-177 Lipetsk is a Project 877 diesel electric submarine.

CONSTRUCTION, NAME

The submarine was laid down on November 3, 1989 at Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard (Gorky) under the name of B-177; launched on July 27, 1989; commissioned into Black Sea Fleet on December 30 (26), 1991; transferred to Northern Fleet in March, 1992. The sub obtained the name of Lipetsk in December 2000 when she was taken under patronage of Lipetsk city administration.
