Olenegorsky Gornyak is a Project 775 Large Landing Ship (LLS)

Northern Fleet

CONSTRUCTION, NAME

The ship was built in Gdansk (Poland); commissioned in 1976. Till 1977 the ship's name was SDK-91, then BDK-91. On May 7, 2000 it was renamed into Olenegorsky Gornyak in connection with Olenegorsk Mining and Processing Combine which took patronage over the ship.

MILESTONES

In 2007 it was ranked as the best landing craft in Northern Fleet.

In May 2008 the ship participated in unprepared coast landing arranged for trainees of RF General Staff Academy.

Operational range: 6,000 miles at 12 knots
Crew: 87 men

Capacity is up to 500 tonnes of armor vehicles and 225 marines
