MPK-118 Suzdalets is a Project 1124M Small ASW Ship (SAS).

CONSTRUCTION, NAME

The ship was laid down on August 1, 1981 at Leninskaya Kuznitsa shipyard (Kiev); launched on March 27, 1983; commissioned on November 3, 1983. It had a name of Komsomolets Moldavii since April 10, 1984 till February 15, 1992. The ship obtained a name of Suzdalets on April 5, 1999.

MILESTONES

In 1986, 1991 and 1999 being a part of search-strike ASW force, the ship won a Navy Commander's Prize for antisubmarine warfare.

According to some reports, on August 10, 2008 it attacked three Georgian missile boats during South Ossetian conflict. One of the boats was scuppered; 5 crewmen died.

In October-November 2008 the ship was deployed at eastern part of the Black Sea.

In November 2008 it was laid up for recovery of operability.
