Admiral Nakhimov is a Project 11442 Heavy Nuclear-powered Guided Missile Cruiser (BCGN).

Severomorsk, Northern Fleet

CONSTRUCTION, NAME

The cruiser was laid down on May 17, 1983 at Baltic Shipyard with the name of Kalinin and launched on April 25, 1986. It came into commission on December 30, 1988. Since 1992 it is known as Admiral Nakhimov.

MILESTONES

The cruiser was inactivated on August 14, 1999 for overhaul and modernization and is still at Sevmash Shipyard's wharf wall. Spent nuclear fuel was unloaded from the ship in September 2008.
