Samum is a Project 1239 Sivuch Air Cushion Missile Ship.

CONSTRUCTION, NAME

The ship was laid down at Krasny Metallist Shipyard (Zelenodolsk) in September 1991; launched on October 12, 1992; commissioned on February 26, 2000. She had a name of MRK-17 until March 18, 1992.

MILESTONES

Since December 1996 the ship had passed state trials at the Baltic Sea.

Since 2000 the ship was in Baltic Fleet's 36th brigade of missile boats.

In 2002 the ship was transferred to Black Sea Fleet's 41st independent brigade of missile boats.

Operational range: 2,500 miles at 12 knots; 800 miles at 45 knots
