Talks on miserable state of affairs in Northern Fleet Theater turned out to be a bit exaggerated. Misunderstanding emerged after a meeting in Moscow where it was decided to liquidate military-controlled cultural institutions "due to absence of direct connection with armed forces".

As was explained by the theater administrators, the question was theatral coteries remained in former garrisons. Northern Fleet Theater will not become self-sufficient. Defense ministry will continue to appropriate money for salaries and redecorations. Quite the reverse, actors are given a chance to earn extra money for additional plays.

As for now, the theater's staff has been reduced almost twice. Technical personnel were officially put on contractual work. Performance is not shown in the "native" building, since fire alarms are being installed there. The company has to go on tours. First "home show" will be presented on Dec 23.
