Long-range cruise of Northern Fleet (NF) large ASW ship Admiral Chabanenko will finish on Aug 6. The ship headed by Capt 1 rank Stanislav Varik took part in the FRUKUS joint exercise and will return to the homebase Severomorsk.

Admiral Chabanenko had carried out transatlantic cruise to US naval base Norfolk in order to attend the quadrilateral joint naval exercise FRUKUS 2011 along with American guided missile destroyer USS James Williams, British frigate HMS Portsmouth and French frigate Ventose.

Sea phase of the exercise is held on the permanent basis since 2004 (except for 2008). Russian Navy traditionally delegates NF large antisubmarine ships.

Admiral Chabanenko took part in this exercise for the second time. The crew achieved first FRUKUS experience in 2007 also off US east coast. Same as four years ago, Russian sailors received high appreciation of the exercise directors and had excellently completed all drills, especially gun firings.

The visit to the US finished on July 1. On her way back, Admiral Chabanenko called at Irish capital city Dublin in July 22-26. NF mariners had a chance to have rest and see Dublin's places of interest. Being underway to homebase, the crew celebrated Russian Navy Day at sea.
