Soccer team of Russian minesweeper beat French colleagues 09.09.2011

Friendly soccer game between teams of Baltic Fleet's and French Navy's minesweepers took place in Baltiysk on Sept 8. Russian sailors won the game with score of 14:3, told Baltic Fleet Information Support Group to Central Navy Portal.

During the visit of French minesweeper Céphée to Baltiysk, the friendly soccer game was played by Russian and French mariners on Sept 8 at sport center of Priboy Naval Base (Baltiysk). The team of harbor minesweeper Sergei Kolbasiev won the victory scoring 14:3.

At the press conference arranged on board Céphée the ship's commanding officer told that the visit program contained joint countermine exercise with Baltiysk Naval Base minesweeper Sergei Kolbasiev. The ships are going to practice communications, tactical maneuvering, imitation of refueling at sea, mine search by sonar and remotely-controlled mine detector. Experience exchange groups will be on board the ships during the exercise. A Baltic Fleet helicopter will be involved in the drills as well.

After the Open Spirit 2011 international countermine exercise, French minesweeper Céphée paid formal visit to Baltiysk port under the Russian-French cooperation program. Last time French warships visited Baltiysk Naval Base in 2009.
