Russian defense-oriented shipyard Sevmash will construct floating transit airfield in Arctic for oilers developing the Prirazlomnoye field on the shelf of Pechora Sea, reported the shipyard's press service on Nov 1.
According to Sevmash's deputy director general Mikhail Budnichenko, the shipyard along with Rubin Design Bureau (St. Petersburg) work out a project of so-called "stopover transport platform" which will be stationed on half way from Murmansk to Prirazlomnaya oil platform.
Except for helicopter landing sites, the platform will be equipped with accommodation blocks to take rest and wait for fine weather. The tender for transport platform was issued by Gazprom and won by Rubin bureau; the construction will be upon Sevmash shipyard experienced in offshore platform building, said Budnichenko. Recoverable reserves of the Prirazlomnoye oil field are estimated as 72 mln tons which makes annual production capacity of 6.6 mln tons. The oil platform is expected to reach full-scale production in seven years.
