Built by Yantar shipyard for Russian Navy, research ship Seliger started sea trials in the Black Sea, reports RIA Novosti referring to the shipyard's press secretary Sergei Mikhailov.

As for him, "the ship took the Black Sea for the first time on September 8 to complete the shipyard's trials. First round of the trials was held in the Baltic Sea", cites him RIA Novosti.

The ship stayed in Novorossiysk port since the end of Aug because of bad weather. When the trials are over, the ship will be handed over to the Navy. Homeport of the ship is Temriuk, the Sea of Azov.

Project 11982 research ship Seliger is designed for testing of naval equipment, deep-sea explorations and search-and-rescue works.
