Caspian Flotilla Gets Ready to Commission New Corvette 27.09.2012

Lead corvette of the new series, Grad Sviyazhsk is expected to arrive at Caspian Flotilla (CF) early in 2013 to hold state trials.

At present, the flotilla prepares for acceptance procedures. The state acceptance panel is being formed and experts are setting up trials schedule. The recently manned crew along with trial team will master newest armament and onboard systems.

Grad Sviyazhsk was laid down at Zelenodolsk Shipyard in Aug 2010.

That is a 'river-sea' class multipurpose corvette. Ships of this project are equipped with the latest radioelectronics and gun/missile/counter-terror/antiaircraft weapons including the newest long-range standard missile system Caliber-NK.

Ships of this kind are designed for protection of the state economic zone.
