First test launches of air-based BrahMos cruise missile are scheduled in 2013, deputy director general of NPO Mashinostroyenia Alexander Dergachyov told RIA Novosti.

As for him, "today the missile is almost ready, it passed ground tests and is expecting flight tests; adaptation of Su-30MKI aircraft to the BrahMos missile has been already started", reports RIA Novosti.

In his interview, Dergachyov said that "mockup flight trials will start even in 2012 without launching from airplane; live test launches will be held in 2013".

Alexander Dergachyov pointed out that "Russian party is responsible for the missile designing, and India works on the entire 'aircraft-missile' integrated system".

Answering questions of RIA Novosti reporters, Dergachyov said it was planned to hold the first underwater test launch of BrahMos missile by the end of the current year.

As for him, "so far, the question is one demonstration launch from underwater test platform. When appropriate submarine is developed, the trials will be resumed".

Dergachyov pointed out that "submarine-based variant will be launched by a mortar-type vertical launch system", reports RIA Novosti.
