Having finished repair and modernization at Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center (Severodvinsk, Russia), Indian diesel submarine INS Sindhurakshak took the sea for the shipyard's sea trials on Oct 29.

Within the next few days, trial team of Zvezdochka and the sub's crew will test all onboard systems. Upon termination of the trials, INS Sindhurakshak will return to the yard for elimination of all revealed defects, and then take sea two times to test mine/torpedo/missile arms.

The contract for interim overhaul and modernization of INS Sindhurakshak diesel-electric submarine under project 08773 was signed by Zvezdochka and Indian defense ministry on June 4, 2010. The sub arrived in Severodvinsk later in Aug and was taken over for repairs.

The submarine received up-to-date Russian cruise missile system Club-S. Somewhat ten Indian- and foreign-made systems have been mounted on the sub, including Ushus sonar and CCS-MK-2 radio communication system. Upgrade of cooling system, placing of Porpoise radar, and some other works improving the sub's combat features and safe operation have been done as well.
