Russia, Italy to Hold IONIEX-2012 Exercise in Nov 5-10 01.11.2012

The IONIEX-2012 Russian-Italian joint naval exercise will take place in Taranto, Italy in Nov 5-10. Black Sea Fleet (BSF) destroyer Smetlivy and seagoing tug MB-304 will represent Russia. Italian Navy will delegate frigates Aviere and Zeffiro.

Currently, seagoing tug MB-304 is heading for Taranto. Destroyer Smetlivy is replenishing supplies in Maltese port La Valletta and then will set a course for the exercise site.

In Nov 5-7, the ships will practice joint actions in the port; sea phase of the exercise will be held in Nov 8-10 in the Ionian Sea.
