New Project 20380 corvette Boiky being built by Severnaya Verf shipyard for Baltic Fleet (BF) has finished first phase of trials in the Baltic Sea.

Serviceability of all onboard systems was tested at sea by the ship's crew led by Capt 2 Rank Sergei Lipsky and representatives of manufacturing companies. In particular, they tested work of propulsion plant, steering system, auxiliary mechanisms, communication and navigation facilities, anchor gear, and held speed, maneuvering and vibration tests.

In the nearest time it is planned to assemble a 100-mm gun mount, and then the ship will head for Baltiysk to pass second phase of sea trials.

It is planned to finish shipyard's trials in Dec 2012, and then the crew will prepare for state acceptance trials.

The second batch-produced Project 20380 corvette Boiky was put afloat at Severnaya Verf on Apr 15, 2011. Keel for the ship was laid down in July 2005. Lead ship of the series is corvette Stereguschiy that was handed over to Baltic Fleet in 2007. The next ship, Soobrazitelny, joined Baltic Fleet on Oct 14, 2011.

The corvette project was developed by Almaz Design Bureau. Such ships are used for littoral zone operations, engagement of enemy submarines and surface ships, and gun support of landing operations. Stealth technology was widely used during construction of the ships, as well as 21 patents and 14 new computer programs. Newest physical field reduction solutions were applied too. As a result, designers considerably reduced the ship's radar signature thanks to hull architecture and fire-resistant radar-absorbent fiberglasses applied in tophamper's design.
