Pacific Fleet (PF) task unit led by Rear Admiral Vladimir Vdovenko and consisting of destroyer Marshall Shaposhnikov, replenishment oiler Irkut, and rescue tug Alatau arrived today at Indian port Mumbai paying an informal visit.

Representatives of Indian Navy and Russian diplomats attended the meeting ceremony.

During the 5-day visit to Mumbai, the task unit command plans to pay visits to India's Western Naval Command HQ, meet Russian Ambassador to India Alexander Kadakin and Indian naval officers onboard destroyer Marshall Shaposhnikov.

Crews of the ships will participate in sport events and have coach tours around the city of Mumbai.

There will be a number of planning activities and a final conference on joint Russian-Indian naval exercise to be held upon termination of the visit.

The visit will last till Dec 2.

Throughout its anti-piracy deployment, the PF task unit will pay formal visits to ports of Thailand, South Korea, Djibouti, and Seychelles.
