12.11.2009 Russian trawler Fortuna suffers distress in Bering Sea near Kamchatka east coast. The vessel with 16 sailors aboard stopped and deenergized due to fuel system failure. The crew is trying to handle the problem by own efforts, says RIA Novosti referring to EMERCOM Kamchatka branch.
They said that the ship's engine supposedly faded due to fuel system defect is planned to be run by 5.00 pm local time (8.00 am Moscow time).
Presently the trawler drifts in Karaginsky Bay between Ozerny peninsula and Karaginsky Island 142 km southeast Ossora settlement.
Patrol boat of Northeast department of FSB Coast Guard is patrolling at the incident area and ready to tow off the ship, if necessary. There is no any treat to life or health of the crew.
It was reported about bad weather conditions at the region, wind force is 12 mps and sea disturbance is force-three.
Trawler Fortuna is registered at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski port, the shipowner is JSC Kreiser. The vessel was built in 1992 for trawling and frozen fish production. Trawler's length is 35.7 meters, beam is 8.8 meters, hull height is 6 meters.
