Somali pirates captured German-operated containership Magellan Star on Sept 8 in the Gulf of Aden; presumably, two Russians and one Ukrainian are on board, reports Maritime Bulletin.

The complement sheltered inside the ship waiting for military help.

As of late July, the crewmen of the containership consisted of 6 Filipinos, 2 Russians, 1 Ukrainian, 1 Pole, and 1 Bulgarian.

Antigua-flagged containership Magellan Star with deadweight of 7,933 tons is operated by Dr. Peters GmbH.
