Aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov got new commanding officer 18.08.2011

Northern Fleet (NF) aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Sovetskogo Soyuza Kuznetsov faced change of command staff. Capt 1 rank Vyacheslav Rodionov who has been the ship's commanding officer for over 3 years got promotion and became NF Missile Ship Division Deputy Commander. His previous post of Admiral Kuznetsov's CO is now occupied by the carrier's former executive officer Capt 1 rank Sergei Artamonov.

Sergei Artamonov is experienced naval serviceman. From the rank of Lieutenant to Capt 1 rank, his service career has been always associated with Admiral Kuznetsov. After graduation from Kaliningrad Naval School in 1992, he has passed all commanding positions on that ship from air defense battery commander to the ship's CO. Sergei Artamonov graduated from the Kuznetsov Naval Academy in 2007. For his merits he was awarded the Ushakov Medal and Russian defense ministry's medals.

Change of commanding officers was held during the carrier's brief call at the NF main naval base Severomorsk. The crew started new phase of combat training with the new CO.
