Third Buyan-class corvette Makhachkala has successfully passed shipyard's sea trials.

Shipboard equipment and main propulsion plant worked normally without failures at all operational modes. Performance characteristics conform to design parameters in full.

State acceptance trials of the ship started today, on Oct 18 in the Baltic Sea. At first, experts tested arms control systems when firing by all weapons at different speeds.

After successful completion of trials, representatives of Russian Navy and manufacturing shipyard will sign acceptance certificate, and Makhachkala will be commissioned into the Navy after hoisting of the St. Andrew's Flag.

Corvette Makhachkala is supposed to join Caspian Flotilla in coming November.

Makhachkala is the third Buyan-class corvette. The first ship, Astrakhan, was commissioned into Caspian Flotilla in 2006. The second one, Volgodonsk, joined the flotilla in July 2012.

The ships were designed by Zelenodolsk Design Bureau (Tatarstan, Russia) and built by JSC Almaz Shipbuilding Firm (St. Petersburg).

Thanks to shallow draft and perfect maneuverability, Buyan-class corvettes are capable to operate effectively in littoral zone of Caspian Sea, in rivers, estuaries, and other narrow waters.

The ships are built under stealth technology.
