Russian forces of the Eastern Command started large joint training exercises on February, 6 in the Kuril Islands water area.

Russia started joint training exercises in the Kuril Islands water area

Joint forces comprise artillery formation, forces of combat, ground attack and army aviation, warships of the Pacific Fleet and contingent of border patrol, deployed in the Kuril Islands territory.
The drills are scheduled; various training, tactical and introductory operational tasks will be performed in the course of the exercises. Particularly search-and-rescue operation of distressed in Russian waters vessel assistance will be conducted over a period of the drills.
Training exercises operate under the direction of artillery formation commander. Special group of military officers from the Eastern Command Staff under the direction of the Eastern Command Forces deputy commander-in-chief works for hands-on assistance at the halt.
