All branches of Naval Academy canceled enrollment in 2010, said a source in Navy command. According to him, Russian defense minister Anatoly Serdiukov signed a corresponding order. Officials in naval educational institutions refused to comment the information referring to its confidential status.

The Naval Academy named after Admiral N.G. Kuznetsov is a federal state institution of higher vocational education. The Academy has 11 branches; they are Nakhimov Naval School, Naval Cadet Corps, five higher education institutions, special officers' courses, and three special research institutes.

The Naval Academy and its branches train servicemen with higher vocational education; provide their retraining and reeducation; conduct fundamental and applied researches on behalf of the Navy and national defense capacity.
