Indian security force carried out effective assault operation and captured Iranian vessel MV Nafis-1.

The ship sailed off Iranian port Chabahar in mid-July with secret cargo of weapons. Indian party has not disclosed the ship's destination port so far.

Nafis-1 was detected by Indian patrol airplanes on Aug 12 and since that time it was kept under observation day and night.

Indian destroyer INS Mysore approached the vessel covertly and sent a boarding party. Twenty four marines and 2 helicopters were involved in the assault operation.

The ship was captured "in Arabic waters", report Indian news agencies.

Nafis-1 was towed to Porbandar, and the crew was handed over to Indian police.
