Nanosensor (so-called "electronic nose") is designed for chemical analysis of air and other gas environments. It catches even discreet smells and is capable to concentrate them. The sensor is more sensitive than foreign analogs. Another feature is compactness; it is just a small and light microchip.
Nanosensors are important element of security systems in spaceships and submarines, said G. Gorokh. They can be also used in medicine, for instance, in diagnostics of human diseases by composition of expiratory air. Also, "electronic nose" helps to recognize counterfeit pharmaceuticals and perfumery.
