Ukrainian Navy will carry out all-round repair of 11 warships and auxiliary vessels through 2012, says Ukrainian Defense Ministry's press release.

According to Ukrainian Navy Commander VADM Viktor Ilyin, repair works are currently held over seven ships. Landing ship Konstantin Olshansky, missile corvette Pridneprovye, and the Ukrainian Navy's flagship frigate Getman Sagaidachny are being prepared for repairs. After overhaul, the flagship will take part in the Ocean Shield anti-piracy operation.

"Those ships will pass all-round repairs, from keel to the masthead", Ilyin said. As for him, defense ministry appropriated UAH 172 mln (RUR 691 mln) in 2012 for ship repair needs. Ukrainian defense minister Dmitry Salamatin took repair works under his personal control.

Totally, Ukrainian Navy operates 20 warships including one frigate, seven corvettes and two landing ships. The only Ukrainian submarine Zaporizhzhia will return to service after longstanding repair by the end of 2012.
