The South Korean corvette Cheonan was sunk by a North Korean torpedo. This conclusion was made by a government commission investigating the sinking of the ship. Reports say the results of the inquiry will be officially announced on May 20th. China, Russia, the United States and Japan will be notified the day before as Seoul's partners in the six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear program. South Korea is also looking into the possibility of suggesting extra sanctions against Pyongyang at the UN Security Council in connection with the incident.
