CONSTRUCTION, NAME

The submarine was laid down on October 15, 1984 at Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard (Gorky); launched on April 30, 1986; commissioned on September 25, 1986.

MILESTONES

On Oct 24, 1988 the sub vas visited by North Korean delegation.

Since 1988 till 1993 naval cadets from Algeria, Libya, Syria, Iran, India, and Cuba had been training onboard the sub.

On Apr 17, 1991 the sub was inspected by Iranian naval attaché.

In 1995 Iranian naval cadets trained onboard the sub.

In July 1996 the sub attended the Russian Navy Day parade in Baltiysk.

In 1997 the sub took part in the movie "Don't Be a Goat..."

In 1997 the sub excellently performed torpedo firing.

On some evidence, on Feb 18, 1999 the sub was visited by South Korean Navy Commander.

On Sept 20, 2000 German Navy Commander inspected the sub.

In 2000-2003 the sub was under interim overhaul at Admiralteyskie Verfi shipyard.

In Aug 2004 the sub visited Swedish capital city Stockholm on occasion of 100th anniversary of Swedish submarine force.

In July 2008 the sub took part in the Russian Navy Day parade in St. Petersburg.

The sub participated in many search-and-rescue exercises held in Baltic Fleet.
