The submarine was laid down on February 22, 1981 at Leninsky Komsomol Shipyard (Komsomolsk-on-Amur) under the name of B-260; launched on August 23, 1981; commissioned in 1982. The sub obtained the name of Chita on March 19, 2006 when she was taken under patronage of Chita city administration.MILESTONES
