B-459 Vladikavkaz is a Project 877 diesel electric submarine.

CONSTRUCTION, NAME

The submarine was laid down on February 25, 1988 at Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard (Gorky) under the name of B-459; launched on April 29, 1990; commissioned in Sept 1990. The sub obtained the name of Vladikavkaz on August 2, 1997 when she was taken under patronage of North Ossetia's regional administration.

The sub is currently under repair at Zvezdochka shipyard (Severodvinsk).
